One of the most irritating things about waxing my eye brows was the mess I would make with the wax and finding the perfect temperature. All this was solved with my discovery of cold wax strips. The pre-waxed strips allowed for easy application and gave the same great waxing results. Even better, I found it much easier to sculpt my brow to the shape and size I wanted. There was no more guess work and trying to make both sides look exactly evenly. This was a very welcomed surprise although it did take a bit of practice. I have learned some great tips along the way. Practice makes perfect after all! Just like I showed in my how to wax your legs without pain article.

Wax Eyebrows With Cold Wax Strips

Prior to using the wax strips I always make sure I have cleaned my face thoroughly. I find using a facial scrub works the best and you want to make sure you are not using alcohol or other products that will close your pores.

Eyebrow Waxing Tips

By cleaning your face with the scrub you not only remove the dry dead skin but the warm water will open the pores and reduce the chance of spreading any bacteria around your face. Once all cleaned you want to shape your eye brow. If you are unsure of how to shape your brow you can consult a stylist your first time or research eye brow shapes online until you find one that suits your face. However, be careful. Just because Angelia’s eye brows look great on her they might now suit the shape of your face or your eyes.

How To Use Wax Strips For Your Eyebrows

Once you have found the shape you would like laid out take the wax strip in your hands and press them firmly together. This will activate the wax. This is all the wax you will so you can avoid over heating the wax, or causing unwanted drips. After heating the strip apply it to the portion of the brow you wish to remove and peel it off quickly. I find after removing the wax if I apply pressure to the area with my fingers the sting will go away much quicker. I still takes a bit of practice to get the movement and order down; apply, rub, pull, and apply pressure. After a few times I got the hang of it and I am sure you can as well.

Do not worry if the area you waxed becomes a little pink. Skin has a tendency to become a little irritated after waxing. The first few times I used the strips my brow was red and a bit bumpy for a few hours after. One of the tricks I have learned is to take a cotton ball and apply baby oil (unscented) to the irritated area. This has always helped me reduce the redness much quicker. Once I got use to the required movements the irritation was greatly lessened. The cost of waxing your brow will decrease greatly as well. Salons can get expensive and you have to be on their schedule to have the waxing done. When I got comfortable doing this at home I found it much more convenient and cost effective.

Changing from wax to wax strips has really helped me gain comfort and skill when waxing my eye brows. Apparently, when you are not worried about having wax drip into your eye or onto your face you are much more likely to calm your nerves and work with the strip with a lot more confidence. A few months into using this product I have found the perfect shape to my brows and in a matter of minutes each week I can upkeep my look keeping it fresh and clean without hassle.

I tend to believe waxing your legs is a lot like child birth. While in the middle of it you start to question your decision to take the adventure you are currently on due to pain. Soon after the event itself you are touching the baby soft skin of your child’s or your legs and suddenly you have no recollection of the pain. Maybe if I only had to wax my legs once every 5 years the pain memories would go completely away, but since this is done once every 6-8 weeks I had to find a way to dull the pain of waxing.

Pain Free Leg Waxing

This first thing I thought was I must be doing something wrong. There should be an easier way to wax my legs. I hit the net hard to confirm I was doing the right things and found a bunch of youtube.com videos, some very helpful and others disturbing. I did not know who to believe. In order to get some answers I decided to go once and examine the way a professional did the waxing. Boy was I glad I did! Not only did she assure me I was doing it right, but she gave me some wonderful tips to help reduce the pain of waxing. I was told to do everything you can to dull your nerves, open your pores, and relax.

Tips For Pain Free leg Waxing

There are several ways to dull your nerves prior to waxing. One of my favorite is to take a few aspirin about a half hour before the wax itself. As a helpful hint I was advised not to drink alcohol or coffee the day of the waxing. Even though you might think this will be helpful and have a calming effect in the long run it is not worth it. Instead of dulling your nerves it actually makes your skin much more sensitive.

Also, do not use ice to dull the pain. This was a mistake I made and will never do again. What made me believe freezing my legs before pouring hot wax onto them and ripping hair deeper than skin level was a good idea? Trust me. It is not a good idea! One of the best ways to get your skin less sensitive is by buying numbing creams. There are a lot of products made specifically for this issue and can often be found right next to the waxing strips or products.

Having your pores open will allow the hair on your fall out much quicker and easier. This will help you greatly and is yet another reason why numbing your legs with ice is a bad idea. What I find helps greatly is a warm, not hot, shower. A good 15 minutes in the steam will open the pores right up. It will work even better if you use some body scrub to remove the dead skin on the legs as well. Do be careful not to use too hot of water. You do not want to irritate your skin before you wax it and do not put lotion or any type of ointment on your skin after your shower. This will just tighten the pores you are trying to open.

Relaxing is easier said than done when you know what is coming, especially if you have had a bad experience with waxing in the past. Remember to breathe. Also avoid any type of stress. For example, one of the big stresses I had for waxing was the mess. I never knew how long to warm the wax for, or how to apply it without it getting everywhere. One of the best solutions I found was buying waxing strips like the ones I mentioned in my how to wax your eyebrows article. By having these pre-waxed strips it took all the guess work out of it. I no longer had to microwave the wax and try to hurry and apply, place strip, rub and rip. Holding the strip in my hands for just a moment or two was all I needed to do and I have gotten the same results.

Is it better to wax or shave? Having the opportunity to sleep in for an extra 20 minutes a day was awful tempting. It was also what caused me to drop my razor and turn from a shaver to a waxer. I was noticing I was trying to stretch the time between shaving, much to the dismay of my husband, causing extreme stubble. It was just so time consuming and just one more thing to add to the mix of daily life. Then on a much needed girl’s day out while talking about things we use to find time for before kids hair removal came up. At the urging of one of my friends I decided to go for my first waxing.

Waxing Or Shaving Legs. Which Is Best?

I looked around online for an at home waxing kit but after talking to my friend again she recommended the first wax be done by a professional. This would allow me to see how it is actually supposed to do be done and give me a feel for the process. I am not going to lie; I was more than a bit nervous about my first waxing experience. Images of Steve Carell shouting “Kelly Clarkson” ran through my head. However, I figured if I could give birth I could surely have my legs waxed. It was not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. There was a bit of a sting but with in a minute or two all was well.

If you want to perform waxing yourself to save money, and this is now what I do, then see the hot wax kits store for some real bargains.

Shaving vs Waxing Hair Removal Tips

My skin remained a little sensitive for the first day or so. Luckily my first waxing was done professionally and I was given a few waxing tips from the pros. Because waxing removes hairs from the root there are tiny holes (unnoticeable to the naked eye) where the hair once was in your skin. What this does is leave room for some irritation if not treated properly. Unlike after shaving, you do not want to apply lotion to your waxed area for at least 12 hours. There really will be no need to do so as waxing leaves your skin soft and silky whereas shaving can dry out your skin due to the soaps you use. Another great tip was to avoid warm or treated waters and the sun for the first day to avoid irritation or small red bumps.

Time Between Waxing

The best thing about waxing is how long you remain hair free. When I first started to wax my own legs I would need to do so once every 3-4 weeks. This was a huge time saver since I was shaving 2 or 3 times a week. Now after a year of waxing my hair grows back softer and slower. At this point I need to wax every 7-8 weeks. Not only does waxing save time but it saves money too. I do not need to constantly replace my razors and worry about cutting myself on the new blades. Nor, did I need to purchase shaving cream and I reduced my usage of lotion dramatically.

Although I had made a few mistakes and it took a little while to get use to waxing myself in those hard to reach areas I will never go back to wasting my time shaving. Do not let Hollywood portrayals of hair remove scare you off. Although everyone’s pain tolerance is different there are far worse things than waxing. Not only that but every time you do it the hair is removed easier and you feel it less and less. With a bit of practice you can be a pro and not have to worry about wasting your money on expensive hair removal products or your time.

I was blessed with many things in my life but the perfect eye brow is definitely not one of these things. Please read on to avoid the mistakes I made and learn how to wax your eyebrows perfectly.Out of all the members in my gene pool I had to get the eye brows of my grandfather. Luckily for me they do not have the length his have acquired over the last 85 years but I do see the potential of this happening. In great fear I started to pluck my eye brows around the age of 15. I quickly decided this might not be for me as it was painful and took forever. Then I see an ad on the TV for at home waxing. I thought I had found the cure to rid me of my bushy grandpa eye brows and was quick to borrow my mom’s credit card and order away.

My Tips For Perfect Waxed Eyebrows

When the product arrived I could not wait to use it. Quickly reading the instructions I went from bushy to professional in 10 minutes. This was amazing. Over the next couple of days I noticed a few, let’s call them mishaps, I wish someone else would have warned me about. So here I am now sending out a grave warning to all though starting to wax their eye brows. Do not make the same mistakes I did!

My first tip is to get your eye brows waxed once professionally prior to doing it yourself. I know it is a bit wasteful to spend $10 on a one time wax but this will tell you a few much needed to know things. First the stylist will be able to shape your eye brows evenly. We have all seen the women who look completely lopsided or with super thin eye brows. It has happen to me.

Keep on plucking or waxing to get the brows even and before you know it you are left with just a thin strip. This can sometimes be worse than the over grown bushiness. Once you have been waxed to the proper shape and size for your face it is easier to upkeep yourself. Essentially it takes the guess work out of the waxing. Secondly by getting a waxing down professionally it will show you if you are up for the pain. Let’s face it, we are ripping hair out of its comfy little resting spot. It is going to feel a bit uncomfortable. Some people have a lot smaller of pain tolerance than others. Getting it professionally done the first time will insure you are not a “one and done” kind of girl as I was with plucking.

See the cold waxing strips store for some discount strips. If you are performing it for the first time then take your time, there is no rush.

Secondly, after waxing there are things you should do in order to avoid discomfort or discoloration to the waxed area. For example avoid swimming, tanning, makeup, or using cleanser to clean your face for 12 to 24 hours after waxing. This might cause redness or bumps in the waxed area. Trust me this is not the look you are going for. I made the mistake of waxing just before leaving the house for a date. You guessed it I applied makeup and lotion to my face before leaving. An hour into it I could feel the tingle and upon excusing myself to the ladies room I found tons of little red bumps under my brow line. My first thought was to apply more makeup but by the time I was done evening out my second brow the first one was even more irritated. Best way to avoid this is to pick a day where you can go without makeup or do it right before bed to give it time to heal overnight.

It has been several years since I started waxing my own eye brows and I will never go back to plucking or allow them to grow back in completely. My one late night call forever changed the way I present myself. Outside of a few little bumps in the road I have found waxing to be easy and a cure to rid me of my inherited bushy brows.
